Video Contest Deadline Extended to September 14

Hello friends,

Since we first announced the Árstíðir Music Video Contest this summer, we figured a few months was enough time for people to get some good ideas and put them on tape.  But it turns out there’s a ton of stuff going on in summer.  I just found out I have to arrange a big pile of songs for string orchestra that’s due last week.  Gunnar, Jón and Ragnar are moving to new places, and we’ve also been busy putting together a Remix EP that we hope will be out in the fall.

So it comes as no surprise that many have spoken to us about extending the video submission deadline, since people are just coming out of summer vacation and have a million things to do this month, etc.  We know the feeling, so we’re officially extending the submission deadline to September 14.  We’re also throwing in a few autographed CDs and t-shirts for the first prizes.

Upload your brilliant work to YouTube, share it privately with us at videocontest@arstidir.com, and on September 14, make your videos public.  If you need more time, we’ll accept submissions up to September 20.  This will not affect your chances for the Band’s Choice Award (the one where we’ll write a song for you), but since the People’s Choice Award depends on how many YouTube likes you can collect, it’s obviously to your advantage to get something up as soon after September 14 as you can.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop us a line at videocontest@arstidir.com.  Enjoy the rest of your summer, and hope to hear from you soon!

ÁRSTÍÐIR MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST – deadline extended

Update: The submission deadline has been extended to September 14.

Dearest friends,

We need your help. We’re tired of watching the same old Árstíðir music videos. Do you have any good ideas for a new one? Do you have a burning desire to share what you see in your imagination when you listen? Do you have something creative and original and fresh that the world needs to witness?

We think so. We would like to see what you can make. In fact, we would like that so much that we’d be willing to write a song for you. We think your music video would rock. That’s why we’re opening a music video contest. Here’s how it works:

The video:

Make an awesome music video to go along with any song from our album Svefns og vöku skil.

To enter:

Get your video uploaded to youtube and email a link to us at videocontest@arstidir.com before August 24th, September 14, 2012. Be sure to make it private but viewable by us at videocontest@arstidir.com until then (so that nobody takes your idea).  On August 24th September 14 make it public and see how many likes you can collect.  (We will accept submissions up to September 20th if you need a little more time, but the sooner you go public, the better.)

The prizes:

On September 10th October 1st we will announce two winners: the video with the most YouTube likes will receive the People’s Choice Award, the video we like the most will receive the Band’s Choice Award.  Both winners will receive a merch package including an autographed copy of our album Svefns og vöku skil, a Svefns og vöku skil T-shirt, and more.  Both videos will also be featured on arstidir.com and recognized on Twitter, Facebook, vkontakte, and on any and every social network we can find. If your video is chosen for the Band’s Choice Award, we will write and record a song for you or a person of your choice (your girlfriend/boyfriend, your Mom, your dog, etc.)

What we’re looking for:

The music video can be deep, ironic, funny, thoughtful, narrative, abstract, or absurd. While some technical skills might be handy, creativity and originality are what we are looking for. If you want to be considered for the official music video, make sure you own all the rights to the video footage you use.

We look forward to seeing and hearing from you!
