Karl Pestka Karl Pestka is a composer, video artist, and violinist from East Lansing, Michigan. He holds Bachelor of Music degrees in both Composition and Performing Arts Technology, having studied at the University of Michigan. As a violinist he has played with countless projects and artists, and toured both sides of the Atlantic Ocean - most recently as a part of Ólafur Arnalds neoclassical string ensemble. Since moving to Iceland two years ago he has become a heavily employed session player. Along side Árstíðir and his klezmer project Varsjárbandalagið, he continues to evolve his solo project Airelectric, in which he manipulates live electronics with his toes, while both hands engage the electric violin. He has written music for movies and received prestigious awards in the US, and is currently working on the soundtrack for the Icelandic thriller Boðberi. |
